In January 2008, Ten Mercer began redesigning our web site with the following goals:

• eliminate redundant or outdated pages and images
  done!
• create a site addressing system — a url scheme — that will serve our needs indefinitely

• make the site more accessible to users by simplifying the code "under the hood" of our pages
  done!
• rewrite all pages in standard html 4
  done!
• move all presentation coding to separate cascading style sheets
  done!
• replace pdf menus with html pages so users can access our dinner menus and wine lists without need for special software (like Adobe Acrobat)

  (our dinner menu and gluten-free menu have already been done; only the wine list remains to be converted)
• organize files on the server to facilitate site changes
  done!
• add a database and server side scripting to automate site updates
  to do
• add a form to enable visitors without an email program to contact us
  to do
• add markers to our Google map

We hope to avoid any disruptions to you. But we are faced with legacy documents and a site addressing system that is inflexible. If we delete a page (or any resource), we will try to provide a forwarding address to another page that is relevant and up-to-date. If we cannot find such a page, we will provide a message telling you that the page you wanted is gone.

Site redesigns inevitably run into snags. A page is not found, the site is temporarily unavailable, or some information that you wanted is no longer here. We apologize for the inconvenience. We plan to design things this time so we never have to do this again.
